ESR 6: Synchrotron based techniques for in situ characterization of MLD processes (Work Package 1)

Short description of the project

A dedicated MLD setup for synchrotron-based in situ characterization will be developed. In situ XRF and GISAXS/GIWAXS will be used to obtain a better understanding of the synthesis processes that are explored within this project. XRF will provide information on the kinetics of precursor infiltration during MLD processes and during vapour phase infiltration in bulk polymeric substrates. GISAXS/GIWAXS will be used to monitor the morphology during the initial nucleation of MLD layers, to study the internal structure of MLD layers and to characterize the generation of porosity during post-deposition calcination processes.
