ESR 10: Bioactive surfaces for cell growth through MLD (Work Package 3)

Short description of the project

This project aims to use MLD deposition to develop surfaces that enhance cell growth beyond the present surfaces based on molecular grafting techniques. The main focus will be on bioactive surfaces for growth of epitel cells. The organic linkers will be chosen among a selection of amino acids suitable for tuning the surface chemistry towards cell growth. Titanium will initially be used as the inorganic unit in the hybrid material due to its known biocompatibility. Development of the deposition process will be performed at UiO, while characterization of cell growth will be through secondments at OUS and Harvard.
